For most racing punters, bet365 is the most complete app of the three: it has the highest App Store rating from by far the largest number of users, Best Odds Guaranteed on every race from 8am and live pictures from Britain, Ireland and France. SBK posted the best morning prices in our sample by a distance, but we could find no Best Odds Guaranteed in its terms. Betfred trailed on price and limits its BOG to selected races, though it remains the pick for extra-place hunters.
- bet365: the strongest all-rounder, with BOG on every race and the deepest user base.
- SBK: top or joint-top price on 71% of runners in our three-way sample, but no documented BOG.
- Betfred: Extra Places and Racing Post content, but the weakest prices in our sample.

How each racing app shapes up
bet365 Racing
bet365’s UK app carries a 4.7 rating from 455,000 ratings, roughly 75 times SBK’s sample. Its racing hub promises Best Odds Guaranteed “on every race” from 08:00 UK time on race day, though the page also says it applies to new and eligible customers and that bet restrictions apply. Its help centre says live streaming needs a funded account or a bet in the previous 24 hours, with a qualifying bet required for selected racing events. Each Way Extra lets you choose your own place terms on selected races. On price it was best or joint-best of the three on 45.7% of runners, with an average book of 119.6%.
Suits: punters who bet after 8am and want BOG, pictures and a mature app in one place.

- Best Odds Guaranteed: UK & Irish racing, from 08:00
- Live racing streams: UK, Irish & French racing
- Each-way extras: Each Way Extra on selected races
SBK Racing
SBK is the betting app of the Smarkets exchange business (Smarkets Limited holds Gambling Commission account 33562), and its prices showed it. Across all 26 fixed-odds firms in our data it was top or joint-top on 64.9% of the runners it priced, and its average book in the three-way sample was 113.8%, about six points tighter than bet365. Its app listing includes live horse racing streams, cash out, bet builder and price alerts. The catch is the absence of BOG: its “Best Price” feature only compares its odds with eight rivals, is described as “for informational purposes only” and excludes each-way bets. With 6,100 App Store ratings, its 4.6 rests on a far smaller base; on Google Play it scores 4.3.
Suits: price-sensitive win punters who take early prices and are happy to forgo BOG.

- Live racing streams: UK, Irish & French racing
Betfred Racing
Betfred’s racing app app holds 4.6 from 69,000 ratings. Its listing highlights Extra Places and Super Extra Places on selected UK and Irish races, plus Racing Post Spotlight and key stats. Some comparison sites describe Betfred’s BOG as covering all British and Irish races; its own terms say selected races, with exclusions including Lucky 15s, 31s and 63s, ante-post, SP bets, free bets, boosts and Super Extra Place races, and Betfred may exclude customers at its discretion. It was best or joint-best of the three on only 26.1% of runners, with the widest average book at 123.1%. Its app listing does not mention streaming, and we could not find streaming conditions on its own pages.
Suits: each-way punters chasing extra places in big handicaps.

- Best Odds Guaranteed: UK, Irish & selected international racing, from 08:00
- Each-way extras: Extra Place and Super Extra Place races
How we compared the apps
We checked each operator’s own pages, help centres and UK App Store listings on 26 October 2026, plus SBK’s Google Play listing. We did not download or test the apps; this is a comparison of documented features and data. Prices came from The Racing API for all 40 British races on 26 October 2026 (Hereford, Kempton, Leicester, Redcar and Southwell), taken at 09:46. The head-to-head uses the 24 races in which all three firms priced every runner. “Average book” is the sum of implied probabilities across a race; the further above 100%, the bigger the margin.
Our view: price versus protection
The data favours SBK on price, but morning prices are only half the story. A bet365 price taken after 8am is settled at the starting price if that turns out bigger; on SBK’s documented terms, your price is your price. On a drifter that difference can outweigh a few points of margin, while on a horse that shortens SBK’s better early odds win outright. Our approach would be to hold more than one account, check today’s best odds before every bet, and treat BOG as part of the price. For the wider field, see our racing betting apps guide and horse betting sites rankings. If you want exchange prices, the Smarkets exchange is run by the same business as SBK.
