Pari-mutuel racing began in Idaho at the Bannock County Fair Grounds in 1964. Idaho Horse Racing Betting Legal Overview

Over the years, while Pocatello Downs has changed locations, the track has remained the focal point of horse racing in the Gem State. The track offers thoroughbred, Quarter Horse, Appalachian, and Paint Horse racing during its annual live meet.  

Another thoroughbred track – Les Bois Park in Garden Park – closed its doors in 2016. Sandy Downs in Idaho Falls hasn’t contested live racing since 2019.
