Who can claim and when

How the qualifying deposit is worked out

bet365 does not simply look at your first deposit. The qualifying figure is your largest single deposit in the seven days before you claim, capped at £10 for the purpose of the calculation. Deposit £50 and you still get £30 in Bet Credits, not £150; deposit £7 and you get £21.

Which bets count towards release

You need settled bets totalling at least the qualifying deposit, again capped at £10, within 30 days of claiming. A single must be priced at 1/5 (1.20) or bigger; in a multiple, only one leg has to meet that price. Several bets on the same horse in the same race count only once, at the largest combined stake, and backing both sides of a market does not count at all.

Some bets are ignored entirely: anything cashed out, bets on boosted odds, void bets, bets placed with Free Bets or Bet Credits, in-play bets settled as a push, and gaming. Racing fans should note the boosted-odds rule in particular. A morning Bet Boost on a fancied horse looks like the obvious qualifier, but it will not trigger the credits. If the requirement is not met in time, the credits are forfeited.

What you can and cannot use Bet Credits on

Once released, normally within the hour, the credits sit in your balance and cannot be withdrawn. A single bet can be funded partly by credits and partly by cash. They cannot go on Tote and pool bets, Colossus, Lotto, Bankers, If Bets, Reverse If Bets, Teasers or Bet Boosts, and a multiple struck with Bet Credits does not attract Acca Boost. Fixed-odds win and each-way racing bets are fine.

Each batch of credits expires seven days after it lands. If more credits are added within that week, the clock restarts from the latest addition.

A worked example

You deposit £10 by debit card, claim the offer and back a horse at 2/1 for £10 in a handicap at Haydock. Win or lose, £30 in Bet Credits appears once the race is settled. You then put £20 of credits on a 3/1 shot, which wins: £60 goes to your withdrawable balance, because the £20 credit stake is not returned. The remaining £10 goes on a 5/4 chance that finishes second, and that credit is gone.

Back a team pre-match in the Full Time Result market and, if it goes two goals clear at any point in 90 minutes plus stoppage time, a single is paid as a winner even if the lead is thrown away. In an accumulator or Bet Builder, that leg is marked as won and the rest of the bet carries on. Racing Value is bet365’s umbrella for its racing concessions, and the detail is more generous than the headline suggests.

Double Result pays both the horse first past the post and the official winner when there is a stewards’ demotion. It covers fixed-odds racing in Britain, Ireland, the US, Germany, France, South Africa and Mauritius, and applies to win, each-way, ante-post, Position Payout, place-only, Betting Without and forecast and tricast bets. Showcasts are fixed-price straight forecasts and tricasts on UK and Irish horse and greyhound races, so you know your return before the off; tricasts are offered only in races with eight or more runners. Non-Runner No Bet applies on selected ante-post races, refunding win and each-way stakes placed after the concession starts if your horse does not line up.

Position Payout replaces each-way maths with a single price per finishing position, shown before you bet. One detail matters in tight finishes: in a dead heat, Position Payout bets are paid in full as a winner, whereas standard each-way bets are cut by dead-heat rules.

Our verdict on bet365 for horse racing

bet365 does the unglamorous things well. Early prices go up on every British and Irish race, Best Odds Guaranteed applies from eight in the morning, and almost every meeting in Britain, Ireland and France can be watched from the same app you bet on. For someone who backs a few horses on a Saturday and wants the job done quickly, it is hard to fault.

Where it loses a mark is around the edges. The welcome offer is paid in Bet Credits that cannot be used on Tote bets, PayPal deposits do not qualify unless your identity is verified, and there is no telephone line if something goes wrong.
