theScore Bet is the Toronto-built sportsbook that grew out of theScore, the scores-and-news app many Canadian fans already keep on their home screen. In Ontario it runs as a regulated operator, owned by PENN Entertainment, with a polished app that is strongest on North American leagues.
We looked at its Ontario terms, help centre, payment rules and the Canadian App Store and Google Play listings to see how it holds up for a bettor in Toronto, Ottawa or Thunder Bay. Here is what we found.
theScore Bet earns its place among the leading Ontario sports betting sites because it does one thing better than most: it puts betting next to the information you already check. The sportsbook is linked to theScore's news and stats app, so the jump from a box score to a bet slip is short.
The betting app itself is clean and quick. The Canadian App Store rating of 4.7 from roughly 29,000 ratings is among the strongest we have seen for an Ontario sportsbook, though the Google Play score is lower. Pregame and in-play markets, early cash-out, same-game parlays and bet tracking are all built in.
Where it falls short is breadth. The app listing focuses on the big North American leagues plus golf, UFC, tennis and the Champions League, and some longtime users say rivals carry deeper futures and alternate lines. There is no advertised live video streaming and no horse racing in the core sports list.
We score theScore Bet 8.3 out of 10, below bet365 Ontario, which offers more depth in live betting and racing.
Yes. theScore Bet appears on iGaming Ontario's directory of regulated sites, and its Ontario-specific terms say Score Media and Gaming Inc. provides its services in the province on behalf of iGaming Ontario, subject to its registration as an internet gaming operator with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and in accordance with its operating agreement with iGaming Ontario.
Score Media and Gaming Inc. lists a Toronto address at 125 Queens Quay East. Its terms describe theScore Bet as a wholly owned subsidiary of PENN Entertainment, the U.S. casino and racetrack operator.
The same app also serves Alberta, where different age rules and helplines apply. This review covers the Ontario product only.
The app lists the NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL, NCAA football and basketball, the PGA Tour, UFC, ATP and WTA tennis and the UEFA Champions League among its featured sports. For a Toronto bettor that covers the Leafs, Raptors and Blue Jays comfortably, with moneylines, spreads, totals, player props and same-game parlays.
Parlay fans get a dedicated Parlay Lounge section, handy on a busy Saturday of Hockey Night in Canada. One reviewer on the Canadian App Store asked for team totals across more sports, and another said bet365 offers better futures and alternate spreads, which matches our sense that theScore is tuned for the mainstream rather than the niche.
For illustration only: a C$20 bet on the Senators at 2.50 (+150) would return $50 if it wins, which is your $20 stake plus $30 profit. A two-leg parlay multiplies the prices, so 1.90 and 1.80 combine to 3.42, and $10 would return $34.20.
CFL fans should check the board in Grey Cup week. theScore's app listing doesn't name the CFL among its featured sports, so we wouldn't pick it as a CFL specialist.
In-play betting is a core part of the app. Odds update as the game moves, and you can cash out early on many bets before they settle. Bet tracking sits in the same place, so you can follow an open parlay without hunting through menus.
What you won't find advertised is live video. Neither the Ontario app listing nor the Ontario terms mention streaming. The trade-off is that theScore's live scores, play-by-play and stats are built for exactly this moment, so many users follow a game through theScore's data and bet alongside it.
If watching the game inside the betting app matters to you, compare it with bet365 Ontario, which is known for in-play coverage and streaming.
The app is free on both stores and is published by Score Media and Gaming Inc. On the Canadian App Store, theScore Bet: Sports Betting holds a 4.7 rating from about 29,000 ratings and needs iOS 16 or later. On Google Play it has more than 100,000 downloads and a lower score than on iOS.
| Platform | Rating | Volume | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| iOS (Canada) | 4.7 / 5 | 29K ratings | iPhone only; iOS 16+ |
| Android (Google Play) | 4.1 / 5 | About 2.9K reviews | 100K+ downloads; last updated August 2026 |
What stands out is the link with theScore media app: tap from a score or story into the market. Design is tidy and the bet slip is easy to read on a small screen. The weaker Android score reflects some frustration in recent reviews with payout displays and deposits, covered below.
Both store listings describe the app as live in Ontario and Alberta, with separate age notices for each province.
Everything runs in Canadian dollars, and Interac is front and centre. theScore Bet's help centre lists these withdrawal options in Ontario: Visa Debit, online banking via Trustly, Interac, PayPal and EFT. There is a $10 minimum for all withdrawal options.
| Method | Deposit | Withdrawal | Timing (per help centre) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Interac e-Transfer | Yes, up to $10,000 | Yes, up to $25,000 | Deposit instant; withdrawal within the hour after the 24-hour review if auto-deposit is on |
| Interac Online | Yes | No | Bank log-in, up to 30 minutes |
| Visa Debit / cards | Yes | Visa Debit | Varies by bank |
| Trustly online banking | Yes | Yes | Varies by bank |
| PayPal | Yes | Yes | Varies |
| EFT | No | Yes | 1–3 business days |
The help centre says withdrawal requests may take up to 72 hours to process, then 1–3 business days to arrive depending on the method. Every transaction goes through a 24-hour review. For Interac e-Transfer, if your bank has auto-deposit on, money should reach you within an hour after that review. Without auto-deposit you answer a security question (your date of birth), and an unanswered transfer expires after seven business days.
theScore Bet doesn't charge withdrawal fees, although your bank may set its own limits.
Horse racing isn't part of theScore Bet's featured sports in Ontario. If you want to bet Woodbine, Mohawk or the King's Plate, look at our guide to betting horse racing in Ontario, which covers bet365, OLG's PROLINE+ and HPIbet.
theScore Bet's responsible gaming policy lets you set limits on deposits, on the amount you wager and on time spent betting, and you can review your account history for the current year. You can take a break or exclude yourself permanently, and that exclusion applies across every jurisdiction where theScore Bet operates.
The Ontario terms also point to iGaming Ontario's voluntary centralized self-exclusion tool, which covers regulated sites across the province, and they make clear it is governed by iGaming Ontario's own terms.
Set limits on day one, before you need them. They are easier to keep than to add later.
Support runs through live chat inside the app and by email at support@thescore.bet. The help centre is detailed, with step-by-step articles on Interac, EFT and ID checks. A separate Ontario disputes process is linked from the contact page if a complaint isn't resolved.
The contact page doesn't publish support hours or a Canadian phone line, so live chat is the quickest route.
We read the written reviews on the Canadian App Store and Google Play listings. Praise centres on design and ease of use; criticism focuses on market depth and occasional payment or cash-out display problems.
“I use the score because It was a Canadian startup. But, Bet365 has great futures and alternate spread.”
“Would like to see team totals in all sports.”
