theScore Bet greets Albertans with the line "Alberta's new home for sports betting" on its Canadian App Store page, and it has been live here since launch day, 13 July 2026.
We score it 8.2 out of 10. It is best for fans who already check scores and stats on theScore and want the betslip in the same place.
theScore made its name as a Canadian sports media app, and the betting product leans on that. Scores, stats and news sit next to the markets, so checking a goalie's recent form before a bet takes seconds, not a trip to another app.
The weak spots are live streaming, which is not advertised, and a market menu that is thinner than bet365's on niche sports. One Canadian App Store reviewer put it plainly: they use theScore "because It was a Canadian startup", but wanted the futures and alternate spreads they found elsewhere.
theScore Bet suits the fan whose phone already opens to theScore for scores and alerts. Having the numbers beside the betslip encourages a quick check before every bet, which is a good habit. If you want streaming or very deep futures markets, pair it with bet365.
Yes. theScore Bet is a legal, regulated option for players in Alberta. The province opened its competitive online market on 13 July 2026 under the iGaming Alberta Act, and two public bodies split the work. Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) registers and regulates operators. The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC), a Crown corporation, conducts and manages the commercial market. An operator has to register with AGLC and then complete a commercial agreement with AiGC before it can take a bet from an Albertan.
AiGC publishes the directory of approved sites, and its rule of thumb is blunt: if an operator does not appear there, it is not regulated. theScore Bet Sportsbook is listed at sportsbook.thescore.bet, with theScore Casino listed separately.
theScore Bet was among the 22 sites approved for launch day, 13 July 2026, and its app's release notes confirm it is "live in Alberta and Ontario". Its Google Play listing carries the Alberta line "18+. AB Only".
The app is published by Score Media and Gaming Inc.
theScore Bet covers pre-game and in-play markets on the NHL, NBA, NFL and MLB, with moneylines, spreads, totals, parlays, props, teasers and futures. For Albertans that means the Oilers and Flames every night of the season, the Raptors and Blue Jays, and the CFL through to the Grey Cup.
Same-game parlays let you mix and match lines from one game. The Parlay Lounge collects trending combinations so you can see what others are building before you set your own.
For illustration only: a C$20 bet on the Oilers at 2.50 (+150) returns $50, which is your $20 stake plus $30 profit. A $25 bet on the Flames at 1.80 (-125) returns $45. These are not live prices.
Odds in Canada are commonly shown in decimal format, and many apps let you switch to American odds. Decimal odds include your stake, so 1.80 means a $10 bet returns $18. American odds are quoted against $100: -125 means you risk $125 to win $100, and +150 means a $100 bet wins $150. A decimal price also shows the implied chance: 2.50 works out to 40 per cent, before the sportsbook's margin.
Live odds update through the game, and bet tracking shows open and settled bets in one list. Because scores and play-by-play live in the same ecosystem, following an in-play bet feels natural.
Live streaming is not advertised in its Canadian listing. Watch on TV and bet from the app, or choose bet365 or Betway if streaming matters.
theScore Bet holds 4.7 out of 5 on the Canadian App Store from about 29,000 ratings, with more than 100,000 Android downloads.
The design is clean and quick, and the link to theScore's media app is the stand-out. Casino games, including live dealer, blackjack, roulette and slots, sit in the same app.
theScore Bet publishes clear rules for Interac e-Transfer withdrawals, and they are among the most transparent we found:
theScore Bet's Canadian app listing does not include horse racing.
Horse racing in Canada is bet through pari-mutuel pools supervised by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA), a different system from the fixed odds you get on hockey or football. If you want to bet Century Mile or the big North American cards, our guide to horse racing betting in Alberta covers where Albertans can do that, and the national racing guide explains the pari-mutuel rules.
Every site in AiGC's directory has to offer the same baseline protections: deposit limits, time limits, age verification and self-exclusion. Its Android listing points Albertans to 211 Alberta if gambling is affecting their mental health or well-being, and deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion sit in the account settings.
Alberta runs the AGLC Centralized Self-Exclusion Program. According to AiGC, a decision to step away is honoured by all registered iGaming sites in the province, so excluding yourself once covers theScore Bet and every other regulated sportsbook at the same time. Details are at selfexclusion.ca.
Set a deposit limit before your first deposit rather than after a bad night. Treat what you stake as the cost of entertainment, never as a way to fix money worries.
theScore Bet runs an online help centre with detailed articles on payments and verification, including the Interac rules above. Contact options are linked from the help pages.
If a withdrawal seems stuck, check whether Interac auto-deposit is switched on with your bank. Without it, the money waits for you to answer a security question in your banking app.
We read theScore Bet's listings on the Canadian App Store and Google Play. Reviews praise ease of use and ask for more market depth. Per-review star ratings were not displayed on the pages we read.
“This app is fantastic! Very easy to use!”
“I use the score because It was a Canadian startup. But, Bet365 has great futures and alternate spread.”
“There are better gambling sites.”
Quoted word for word from public reviews; one review is never the whole picture. Alberta’s regulated market opened on 13 July 2026, so reviews dated earlier on the same Canadian listing come from players in Ontario.
How theScore Bet lines up against three Alberta rivals on the points that matter.
