BetRivers, from Rush Street Interactive, has been live in Alberta since 13 July 2026. Its Canadian App Store listing sets out the Alberta rule clearly: 18+ in Alberta, 19+ in Ontario.
We score it 8.0 out of 10. It is best for bettors who want plenty of Canadian payment options and a well-reviewed app that combines sportsbook and casino.
BetRivers does the basics well. The app holds 4.8 out of 5 on the Canadian App Store from about 4,400 ratings, the payment list is longer than most, and the sportsbook covers everything an Alberta bettor is likely to want.
It is less distinctive than bet365 or theScore Bet, and live streaming is not advertised. Think of it as a dependable second account.
BetRivers suits the bettor who cares most about getting money in and out in a familiar way, whether that is Interac, a card, PayPal or Trustly. It also suits casual players who like a casino and a sportsbook in the same app. It is less suited to in-play specialists who want streams.
Yes. BetRivers is a legal, regulated option for players in Alberta. The province opened its competitive online market on 13 July 2026 under the iGaming Alberta Act, and two public bodies split the work. Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) registers and regulates operators. The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC), a Crown corporation, conducts and manages the commercial market. An operator has to register with AGLC and then complete a commercial agreement with AiGC before it can take a bet from an Albertan.
AiGC publishes the directory of approved sites, and its rule of thumb is blunt: if an operator does not appear there, it is not regulated. BetRivers Casino & Sportsbook is listed at ab.betrivers.ca.
BetRivers was among the 22 sites approved for launch day, 13 July 2026. Its Canadian App Store listing says users must be 18+ in Alberta and 19+ in Ontario, and directs Albertans to 211 Alberta for gambling-related help.
The Canadian app is published by Rush Street Interactive, with Rush Street Interactive Canada, ULC named in the listing.
BetRivers' Canadian listing names football, hockey, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, soccer, racing and MMA/UFC. That covers the Oilers and Flames, the Raptors and Blue Jays, and the CFL from the season opener through the Grey Cup.
Moneylines, spreads and totals are joined by parlays and player props on the major leagues.
For illustration only: a C$20 bet on the Oilers at 2.50 (+150) returns $50, which is your $20 stake plus $30 profit. A $25 bet on the Flames at 1.80 (-125) returns $45. These are not live prices.
Odds in Canada are commonly shown in decimal format, and many apps let you switch to American odds. Decimal odds include your stake, so 1.80 means a $10 bet returns $18. American odds are quoted against $100: -125 means you risk $125 to win $100, and +150 means a $100 bet wins $150. A decimal price also shows the implied chance: 2.50 works out to 40 per cent, before the sportsbook's margin.
In-play betting runs on the main leagues, with NHL markets updating through each period. BetRivers keeps the live page simple, which helps when odds are moving.
Live streaming is not advertised in its Canadian app listing.
BetRivers Casino & Sportsbook holds 4.8 out of 5 on the Canadian App Store from about 4,400 ratings. It is rated 18+ and includes in-app controls for age assurance.
The app combines sportsbook and casino, with slots, table games and live dealer games a tap away from the betting menu. Responsible-gambling settings, including deposit, spend and time limits, are easy to reach.
BetRivers lists one of the widest spreads of payment methods among Alberta sportsbooks: Interac, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, PayPal and Trustly. Your balance is held in Canadian dollars.
Withdrawal times depend on the method and on whether your identity checks are complete. One App Store reviewer in October 2026 praised an "Extremely fast payout", while an earlier reviewer complained about getting money out, so verify your account before you need to withdraw.
BetRivers' Canadian app listing names racing among its sports, but none of Alberta's regulated sportsbooks offers horse racing, so don't expect Woodbine or Century Mile pools here.
Horse racing in Canada is bet through pari-mutuel pools supervised by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA), a different system from the fixed odds you get on hockey or football. If you want to bet Century Mile or the big North American cards, our guide to horse racing betting in Alberta covers where Albertans can do that, and the national racing guide explains the pari-mutuel rules.
Every site in AiGC's directory has to offer the same baseline protections: deposit limits, time limits, age verification and self-exclusion. Its Canadian listing names deposit, spend and time limits, plus self-suspension and self-exclusion, and directs Albertans to 211 Alberta.
Alberta runs the AGLC Centralized Self-Exclusion Program. According to AiGC, a decision to step away is honoured by all registered iGaming sites in the province, so excluding yourself once covers BetRivers and every other regulated sportsbook at the same time. Details are at selfexclusion.ca.
Set a deposit limit before your first deposit rather than after a bad night. Treat what you stake as the cost of entertainment, never as a way to fix money worries.
BetRivers runs an online help centre for account, payment and verification questions, with contact options linked from the help pages and the app.
We read BetRivers' listing on the Canadian App Store. Reviews split between fast payouts and frustration with withdrawals. Per-review star ratings were not displayed on the page we read.
“Extremely fast payout!”
“Good luck trying to get your money out if you win, it’s almost impossible”
Quoted word for word from public reviews; one review is never the whole picture. Alberta’s regulated market opened on 13 July 2026, so reviews dated earlier on the same Canadian listing come from players in Ontario.
How BetRivers compares with three other Alberta sportsbooks on the points that matter.
