Ontario Sports Betting Sites 2026: Legal Sportsbooks Compared

By Horse.bet Canada desk · Updated 24 October 2026 · Licences and features checked 24 October 2026

Ontario has Canada's largest regulated betting market, with dozens of licensed sportsbooks competing for the same Leafs, Senators and Raptors fans. Every brand on this page is registered by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and operates under an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario, the provincial agency that runs the open market.

We rank eleven of them by what they do best, then compare live streaming, apps and payments side by side. You'll also find how the market is regulated, how to sign up, how Interac withdrawals work and where to get help. You must be 19 or older and physically in Ontario to bet.

★ Our ranking

Best Ontario sports betting sites, ranked by what they do best

There is no single winner for every bettor, so we rank each sportsbook for the job it does best. Odds, coverage of Canadian sports, app stability, payments and player-protection tools all count. No brand pays for its position, and none of our rankings consider incentives.

  1. bet365 Ontario: best for in-play odds and live streaming.
  2. FanDuel Ontario: best for same-game parlays on NHL and NBA.
  3. theScore Bet Ontario: best for stats and news in the same app.
  4. DraftKings Ontario: best for player props and parlay building.
  5. Sports Interaction Ontario: best for a long-standing Canadian brand.
  6. BetRivers Ontario: best for payment choice, including PayPal and Amex.
  7. Betway Ontario: best for full and partial Cash Out.
  8. Hard Rock Bet Ontario: best for same-game parlays, teasers and round robins.
  9. Caesars Ontario: best for Flex Parlay and same-game parlays.
  10. Betinia Ontario: best for a compact sportsbook and casino account.
  11. ComeOn Ontario: best for sports and casino in one Ontario app.

All eleven appear on iGaming Ontario's regulated-market list, accurate as of 1 September 2026. Many bettors keep two or three accounts so they can compare prices on the same game, which is the simplest way to get better odds over a season.

bet365 vs FanDuel in Ontario

The two most common first accounts suit different habits. bet365 is the stronger choice if you bet during games and want to watch while you do, especially on soccer, tennis and international events. FanDuel is the smoother tool for building same-game parlays on a Leafs or Raptors night. Plenty of Ontario bettors hold both.

theScore Bet vs DraftKings in Ontario

theScore Bet suits people who already follow games in theScore app, since the scores, news and bet slip live together. DraftKings has the wider set of player props for those who like to build bets around individual performances.

★ By the numbers

Ontario's legal betting market in numbers

iGaming Ontario publishes monthly figures for the regulated market. The latest available month at the time of writing is August 2026.

Measure (August 2026)Figure
Total cash wagers, all productsC$9.74 billion
Sports and event betting wagers$843 million
Sports and event betting revenue$54.4 million
Total gaming revenue$396.3 million
Active player accounts1.208 million
Operators / websites on the iGO list49 / 84

August is usually quiet for sports: it fell between the World Cup final and the NFL kickoff. July 2026 set the market's wagering record at $9.88 billion. Online casino makes up the large majority of wagering in Ontario; sports betting is around a tenth of the total in a typical month, rising during the NFL season and the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Operators pay the province 20% of their gaming revenue. Players do not pay tax on recreational winnings.

★ Choosing

How to pick the right Ontario betting site

Start with how you bet, then match the sportsbook to it. Four questions sort most people quickly:

  1. Do you bet during games? Look at in-play depth, how fast markets reopen after a goal, and whether you can watch. bet365 and Betway stand out for streaming.
  2. Do you build parlays? FanDuel and DraftKings have the most polished same-game parlay tools. Check whether a parlay can be cashed out early.
  3. Do you follow the numbers? theScore Bet keeps stats and news next to the bet slip.
  4. Do you bet beyond North America? Betway, ComeOn and bet365 carry deeper soccer, tennis and cricket menus.

Then check the basics. Price the same NHL moneyline at three books and see which is consistently closer to even on both sides. Read the one-star reviews on the Canadian App Store for patterns such as geolocation failures or slow withdrawals. And open the responsible-gambling menu before you deposit: if the limit tools are hard to find, that tells you something.

★ Markets

What you can bet on at legal Ontario sportsbooks

NHL: Leafs and Senators

Hockey drives Ontario betting. Expect moneylines, puck lines (usually ±1.5 goals), totals, period betting and player props on goals, points, shots and saves. A Saturday night game on Hockey Night in Canada will have hundreds of markets at the larger books. For illustration, a $20 bet on the Leafs at 2.50 (+150) returns $50 if they win.

NBA and MLB: Raptors and Blue Jays

Raptors games carry spreads, totals, quarter lines and player points, rebounds and assists. Blue Jays betting includes run lines, first-five-innings markets and strikeout props for the starters.

CFL and the Grey Cup

Ontario has three CFL teams: the Argonauts, Tiger-Cats and Redblacks. Most books post full CFL markets weekly, and Grey Cup futures run all season. The 2026 Grey Cup is scheduled for Calgary on 15 November.

NFL, soccer and the rest

The NFL is the biggest sports-betting draw in the fall. Soccer covers the Premier League, Champions League and MLS, including Toronto FC. Tennis, golf, UFC, Formula 1 and the World Juniors over the holidays round out the menu. Novelty markets on events like award shows need regulator approval, so they are less common than in some other places.

★ In-play

Live betting and streaming at Ontario sportsbooks

Live betting lets you bet after the puck drops, with prices that update as play unfolds. It is the fastest-growing way to bet, and also the easiest place to lose track of spending, so set a limit before you start.

Streaming is where sportsbooks differ most. bet365 has the largest catalogue, weighted towards tennis, soccer, basketball and international sports. Betway streams daily events in its app, and Caesars has a Watch & Bet feature on select matchups. Big NHL and NFL games are rarely streamed by sportsbooks because broadcasters hold those rights, so you will usually watch the game on TV and bet in the app.

Cash-out, which lets you settle a bet early for a set amount, is now standard. The price is set by the sportsbook and includes its margin, so cashing out is a way to manage risk rather than a way to improve your return.

★ Mobile

Ontario betting apps: what to look for on iOS and Android

Most Ontario bets are placed on phones. Most brands publish apps on the Canadian App Store, and most also on Google Play; a few smaller ones work through a mobile site instead. Check the app's publisher matches the sportsbook and that the listing mentions Ontario.

  • Geolocation. The app needs location permission. Near the Quebec or Manitoba border, or on some home Wi-Fi networks, checks can fail; switching to mobile data often helps.
  • Speed in-play. Slow bet acceptance during live games is the most common complaint in app reviews.
  • Biometrics. Face ID or fingerprint log-in saves time without weakening security.
  • Limit tools. Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion should be reachable from the account menu in a couple of taps.

Our individual reviews quote real Canadian App Store and Google Play reviews, including critical ones, so you can see how each app performs for players here.

★ Banking

Deposits and withdrawals: Interac betting sites in Ontario

Interac is accepted at every sportsbook on this page. Interac e-Transfer deposits usually arrive within minutes and come straight from your bank, so you don't share card details with the operator. Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted, and some brands add PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, MuchBetter or Trustly online banking.

Withdrawals are where brands differ. Before the first payout, every operator must verify your identity, so upload ID early. After that, Interac withdrawals typically take from a few hours to three to five business days depending on the brand. Most operators return money to the method you deposited with where possible.

MethodDepositsWithdrawalsGood to know

Accounts are in Canadian dollars, so there is no conversion fee on deposits from a Canadian bank.

★ Getting started

How to sign up at an Ontario sportsbook

  1. Pick a licensed brand. Use the ranking above or check iGaming Ontario's list. Make sure you are on the Ontario site or app.
  2. Register. Enter your legal name, date of birth, address, email and phone number. You must be 19 or older.
  3. Verify your identity. Most checks run automatically against public records; if not, you'll be asked for photo ID and sometimes a proof of address.
  4. Allow location. Turn on location services, or install the small geolocation plug-in on a desktop. You must be in Ontario to bet.
  5. Set your limits. Choose deposit, loss or time limits before your first deposit. You can lower them instantly; raising them takes effect after a waiting period.
  6. Deposit and bet. Fund your account with Interac or another method, then place your first bet.

★ Government option

OLG PROLINE+ vs private Ontario sportsbooks

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation's PROLINE+ is the province's own online sportsbook, sold through OLG.ca and the OLG app, with paper PROLINE tickets at lottery retailers. It sits outside iGaming Ontario's market but follows the same 19+ age rule and the same geolocation requirement.

PROLINE+ suits casual bettors who already have an OLG account for lottery. Private sportsbooks generally have more markets, more in-play options, streaming and more payment choices. Nothing stops you holding both.

★ Racing

Horse racing betting in Ontario

Horse racing is not part of single-event sports betting law. Bets on races are pari-mutuel, pooled with other bettors, under federal oversight by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency. Woodbine Entertainment's HPIbet is the main Ontario platform, and bet365 added racing to its Ontario app through a partnership with Woodbine in August 2023.

For Woodbine, Mohawk and the King's Plate, and every platform you can use, see our Ontario horse racing betting guide and our Woodbine track guide.

★ Safer gambling

Responsible gambling in Ontario: tools and support

Every licensed Ontario sportsbook must give you tools to stay in control: deposit limits, loss and wager limits, session reminders, time-outs and self-exclusion. Set them when you open the account, not after a bad night.

  • BetGuard. iGaming Ontario's centralized self-exclusion program went live on 14 May 2026. Sign up once at betguard.ca to exclude yourself from every regulated online gambling site in Ontario for a set period. It takes about five minutes and you don't need an existing account.
  • ConnexOntario. Call 1-866-531-2600 any time, day or night, for free and confidential help with gambling, mental health or addiction, or text CONNEX to 247247.
  • iGaming Ontario's player pages at igamingontario.ca explain your protections, how to check a site is regulated and how to complain.
  • Responsible Gambling Council (responsiblegambling.org) has guides on limits, warning signs and support for families.
Bet only what you can afford to lose. Betting is not a way to make money or solve financial problems. 19+. Must be in Ontario.
