FanDuel went live in Alberta on 13 July 2026, the opening day of the province's regulated market, as one of 22 sites AiGC approved for launch. It brings the same tidy betslip and same-game parlay tools that made it a household name south of the border.
We score it 8.4 out of 10. It is best for bettors who like to build a story around one game, such as Oilers to win, a named player to score and over 6.5 goals, and want an app that makes that quick.
FanDuel's strength is how little friction there is between an idea and a bet. The same-game parlay builder is quick, the betslip is easy to read, and the Canadian App Store listing carries a 4.8 rating from about 47,000 ratings, the highest of the Alberta sportsbooks we reviewed.
Where it trails bet365 is live streaming and sheer depth on less popular sports. FanDuel Group's racing product is a US business, and its Alberta announcement did not include racing.
FanDuel suits the bettor who watches the Oilers with friends and likes to put a few predictions on one slip. It is also a sensible first sportsbook: the layout is calm and the parlay builder explains itself. If you mainly want live streams or niche markets, you will find more at bet365.
Yes. FanDuel is a legal, regulated option for players in Alberta. The province opened its competitive online market on 13 July 2026 under the iGaming Alberta Act, and two public bodies split the work. Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) registers and regulates operators. The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC), a Crown corporation, conducts and manages the commercial market. An operator has to register with AGLC and then complete a commercial agreement with AiGC before it can take a bet from an Albertan.
AiGC publishes the directory of approved sites, and its rule of thumb is blunt: if an operator does not appear there, it is not regulated. FanDuel is listed there twice: FanDuel Sportsbook at sportsbook.fanduel.ca and FanDuel Casino at casino.fanduel.ca.
FanDuel was one of the 22 sites approved for launch day, 13 July 2026. Its Toronto-datelined announcement of 8 July 2026 confirmed that Albertans aged 18 and over could register ahead of launch.
FanDuel Group is part of Flutter Entertainment plc, and its Canadian business, FanDuel Canada, runs the Alberta launch.
FanDuel's menu is built around the North American leagues: NHL, NBA, NFL and MLB, with soccer, tennis, golf and combat sports behind them. For Albertans that means full coverage of the Oilers and Flames, the Raptors and the Blue Jays, plus the CFL during the season.
A same-game parlay ties several outcomes from one game together. On a Battle of Alberta night you might combine an Oilers win, over 6.5 goals and a named player to record a point. All three have to land, which is why the price is longer than any single leg.
For illustration only: a C$20 bet on the Oilers at 2.50 (+150) returns $50, which is your $20 stake plus $30 profit. A $25 bet on the Flames at 1.80 (-125) returns $45. These are not live prices.
Spreads, totals, props and futures are all available. FanDuel tends to keep markets tidy rather than endless, which makes it easier to compare a few options quickly.
Odds in Canada are commonly shown in decimal format, and many apps let you switch to American odds. Decimal odds include your stake, so 1.80 means a $10 bet returns $18. American odds are quoted against $100: -125 means you risk $125 to win $100, and +150 means a $100 bet wins $150. A decimal price also shows the implied chance: 2.50 works out to 40 per cent, before the sportsbook's margin.
FanDuel's Canadian App Store listing highlights in-play live betting alongside same-game parlays, and live NHL and NBA markets update through each period and quarter. You can add live legs to a parlay during the game, though prices move fast.
Live streaming is not advertised in its Canadian app listing. If watching inside the app matters, bet365 or Betway are the better fit.
FanDuel Sportsbook and Casino holds 4.8 out of 5 on the Canadian App Store from about 47,000 ratings, published by FanDuel Limited. The Canadian Google Play listing shows more than 100,000 downloads; it did not display a star rating when we checked.
The app opens on the day's big games, the parlay builder sits one tap from any game page, and open bets are easy to track. It is the app we would hand a friend placing their first bet.
FanDuel's Canadian app listing describes quick, secure deposits and payouts "in as little as 2 hours". It does not name individual payment methods, so check the cashier in your Alberta account to see which options are offered, and remember that balances are held in Canadian dollars.
As with every regulated book, your first withdrawal may wait on identity checks. Complete verification before you need the money, and withdraw to the method you deposited with where possible.
FanDuel Group runs a racing business in the United States, but its Alberta announcement did not include racing and the Canadian app listing does not mention it.
Horse racing in Canada is bet through pari-mutuel pools supervised by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA), a different system from the fixed odds you get on hockey or football. If you want to bet Century Mile or the big North American cards, our guide to horse racing betting in Alberta covers where Albertans can do that, and the national racing guide explains the pari-mutuel rules.
Every site in AiGC's directory has to offer the same baseline protections: deposit limits, time limits, age verification and self-exclusion. FanDuel's Alberta launch announcement linked new users to responsible gaming resources inside the app, alongside its Casino 101 and Sports Betting 101 guides.
Alberta runs the AGLC Centralized Self-Exclusion Program. According to AiGC, a decision to step away is honoured by all registered iGaming sites in the province, so excluding yourself once covers FanDuel and every other regulated sportsbook at the same time. Details are at selfexclusion.ca.
Set a deposit limit before your first deposit rather than after a bad night. Treat what you stake as the cost of entertainment, never as a way to fix money worries.
Support runs through FanDuel's online help centre and the help links inside the app. The help centre covers verification, deposits and withdrawals, and is the place to start for account questions.
If you need to raise a complaint, keep screenshots of the bet or transaction and your account details to hand. A regulated operator must deal with it under AGLC rules.
We read FanDuel's listing on the Canadian App Store. Praise focuses on how easy the app is; criticism, when it comes, is strongly worded. Per-review star ratings were not displayed on the page we read, so none are shown.
“I love this app”
“I've tried multiple sportsbooks over the years, and FanDuel stands out as one of the absolute worst.”
Quoted word for word from public reviews; one review is never the whole picture. Alberta’s regulated market opened on 13 July 2026, so reviews dated earlier on the same Canadian listing come from players in Ontario.
How FanDuel lines up against three Alberta rivals on the points that matter.
| Sportsbook | Live in Alberta since | App rating (Canada) | Live streaming | Interac |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FanDuel Alberta | 13 July 2026 | iOS 4.8 (47K ratings) | Not advertised | Not named in app listing |
| bet365 Alberta | 13 July 2026 | iOS 4.7 (182K ratings) | Yes | Yes |

| theScore Bet Alberta | 13 July 2026 | iOS 4.7 (29K ratings) | Not advertised | Yes |
FanDuel and DraftKings are close on parlays. FanDuel's app feels calmer; DraftKings goes broader on props. bet365 is the pick if you want to watch while you bet.
