bet365 was taking bets from Albertans by 7 a.m. MT on 13 July 2026, the morning the province's regulated online market opened. It arrived with the two things it is known for wherever it operates: a huge in-play menu and live streaming built into the same app.
We score it 8.6 out of 10, the highest mark among the Alberta sportsbooks we have reviewed. It suits bettors who watch the game and bet as it unfolds, and anyone who wants more depth than the usual moneyline and puck line.
bet365 is the sportsbook we would point most Alberta bettors to first. The reasons are practical. Its in-play coverage runs deeper than most rivals, the live streams sit next to the betting markets, and the Canadian app is mature, fast and rated 4.7 on the App Store from roughly 182,000 ratings.
The trade-off is a busy layout. First-time bettors may find the menus dense, and there is no horse racing in its Canadian app listing, so racing fans will need a second account. Neither is a deal-breaker for a sports-first bettor.
Yes. bet365 is a legal, regulated option for players in Alberta. The province opened its competitive online market on 13 July 2026 under the iGaming Alberta Act, and two public bodies split the work. Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) registers and regulates operators. The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC), a Crown corporation, conducts and manages the commercial market. An operator has to register with AGLC and then complete a commercial agreement with AiGC before it can take a bet from an Albertan.
AiGC publishes the directory of approved sites, and its rule of thumb is blunt: if an operator does not appear there, it is not regulated. bet365 appears in that directory twice: as Bet365 Sportsbook at ab.bet365.ca and as Bet365 Casino.
It was among the 22 sites AiGC approved for launch day, 13 July 2026. Its Canadian App Store listing spells out the rule: you must be 18+ and present in Alberta to play here. Ontario is regulated separately, and there the age is 19+.
The Canadian app is published by Hillside Technology Limited, the bet365 group company named as seller on the App Store.
Hockey is where most Albertans start, and bet365 covers the NHL in depth: moneyline, puck line and totals, plus player markets such as shots and points. One Canadian Google Play reviewer summed up the appeal as "lots of prop/Asian lines that other platforms don't have", and on soccer the Asian handicap menu is a genuine point of difference.
When the Oilers meet the Flames, expect a long pre-game market list and a live menu that keeps moving through all three periods. Football fans get the CFL alongside the NFL, so an Elks–Stampeders Labour Day game or the Grey Cup sits on the same menu as Sunday's NFL slate. The Raptors, Blue Jays, tennis, golf and a wide spread of soccer leagues round it out.
For illustration only: a C$20 bet on the Oilers at 2.50 (+150) returns $50, which is your $20 stake plus $30 profit. A $25 bet on the Flames at 1.80 (-125) returns $45. These are not live prices.
Bet Builder lets you combine selections from one game on a single slip, for example an Oilers win with over 6.5 goals. Prices on combined selections are calculated together, so check the final odds on the betslip before you confirm.
This is bet365's strongest card. Its Canadian App Store listing says the company streams "hundreds of thousands of events worldwide every year", and at its Alberta launch bet365 put the figure at more than one million live-streamed events a year. Streams sit beside the in-play market, so you can watch and bet without switching apps. Which events are available depends on broadcasting rights in Canada, so check the live schedule in the app.
In-play betting covers the main NHL markets through each period, with soccer, tennis and basketball running around the clock.
One habit worth building: set a limit before a live session, not during one. Live odds move quickly, and a short pause before each bet helps.
On the Canadian App Store, bet365 Sports Betting holds 4.7 out of 5 from about 182,000 ratings. On Google Play in Canada it has more than 500,000 downloads. The same Canadian app serves Alberta and Ontario and checks your location to show the right product.
What stands out is speed. The in-play page refreshes quickly, live streams are a tap away from the market, and Apple Pay sits in the cashier on iPhone. The flip side is density: there is a lot on every screen, and favourites and search are worth setting up early so the Oilers or Flames are always one tap from the home page.
bet365's Canadian app listing names debit card, Interac and Apple Pay among its payment methods, and your account runs in Canadian dollars. bet365's Canadian help centre lists these withdrawal times. They are published for its Ontario site, so confirm the methods and limits in your Alberta cashier.
| Method | Processing time | Limits per withdrawal |
|---|---|---|
| Interac | 1–4 hours | $10 – $25,000 |
| Debit card | 1–4 hours | $10 – $40,000 |
| Credit card | 1–4 hours | $10 – $40,000 |
| PayPal | 1–4 hours | $20 – $12,500 |
| Apple Pay | Instant | $10 – $40,000 |
| Wire transfer | Within 12 hours | $10 – $25,000 |
Withdrawals go back to the method you deposited with where possible, so Interac deposits come back by Interac bank transfer and PayPal deposits return to the same PayPal account. Your bank may add its own time after bet365 releases the money, and your first withdrawal can take longer if identity checks are still open.
bet365 is a major racing bookmaker in other countries, but its Canadian app listing does not mention horse racing, so don't join expecting the racing product you may know from abroad.
Horse racing in Canada is bet through pari-mutuel pools supervised by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA), a different system from the fixed odds you get on hockey or football. If you want to bet Century Mile or the big North American cards, our guide to horse racing betting in Alberta covers where Albertans can do that, and the national racing guide explains the pari-mutuel rules.
Every site in AiGC's directory has to offer the same baseline protections: deposit limits, time limits, age verification and self-exclusion. bet365's Canadian app listings point Albertans to 211 Alberta for support, and the company said at launch that its tools include spend and session limits. You will find deposit limits, time-outs and account closure in the account menu.
Alberta runs the AGLC Centralized Self-Exclusion Program. According to AiGC, a decision to step away is honoured by all registered iGaming sites in the province, so excluding yourself once covers bet365 and every other regulated sportsbook at the same time. Details are at selfexclusion.ca.
Set a deposit limit before your first deposit rather than after a bad night. Treat what you stake as the cost of entertainment, never as a way to fix money worries.
bet365's Canadian help centre covers payments, verification and account settings in detail. Live chat is available from the help pages, with an AI assistant handling the first exchange before a person picks up more complex questions, and there is a contact form for anything that needs a paper trail.
No phone number is listed on its payment help pages. If a withdrawal is held for verification, the quickest route is usually to upload the requested documents through your account rather than wait in a chat queue.
We read the bet365 listings on the Canadian App Store and Google Play. Praise centres on market depth. Complaints, as with most sportsbooks, tend to involve withdrawals and account restrictions. Stars are not shown because the store pages we read did not display a per-review rating.
“The betting platform itself is excellent - lots of prop/Asian lines that other platforms don't have.”
“This app sucks.”
Quoted word for word from public reviews; one review is never the whole picture.
Here is how bet365 lines up against three other Alberta sportsbooks on the points that matter.
| Sportsbook | Live in Alberta since | App rating (Canada) | Live streaming | Interac |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| bet365 Alberta | 13 July 2026 | iOS 4.7 (182K ratings) | Yes | Yes |
| FanDuel Alberta | 13 July 2026 | iOS 4.8 (47K ratings) | Not advertised | Not named in app listing |
| DraftKings Alberta | 13 July 2026 | iOS 4.7 (16K ratings) | Not advertised | Yes |
| theScore Bet Alberta | 13 July 2026 | iOS 4.7 (29K ratings) | Not advertised | Yes |
If live streaming matters to you, bet365 is the clear pick of this group. If you mostly build same-game parlays, FanDuel or DraftKings may suit you better, and theScore Bet is the choice for bettors who want news and stats in the same app.
