DraftKings Ontario review: our verdict

We give DraftKings Ontario 8.5 out of 10. Its strength is breadth: the Canadian app listing covers the NHL, NBA, NFL, MLB, soccer, golf, UFC and MMA, boxing, motorsports, esports and college sports, with player props across most of them. Its Ontario terms are clear and specific about age, location and how disputes are handled.

It trails bet365 and FanDuel because it does not advertise live streaming, offers no horse racing, and does not publish Ontario withdrawal times outside the signed-in cashier. The iPhone app is well rated at 4.7, though from a smaller pool of Canadian ratings than its two main rivals.

Is DraftKings legal in Ontario?

Yes. iGaming Ontario lists DraftKings Sportsbook and DraftKings Casino among the province's regulated sites. DraftKings' Ontario terms of use state that the site is owned and operated by Crown DK CAN Ltd., which "operates pursuant to an Operating Agreement with iGaming Ontario". Crown DK CAN Ltd. also appears on iGO's operator list.

The terms say that if you cannot settle a dispute with DraftKings directly, you may escalate it to iGaming Ontario or the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. That is a real protection that unregulated sites do not offer.

Ontario's open market launched on 4 April 2022, the year after Bill C-218 legalized single-event sports betting in Canada. Provinces run gaming under Criminal Code s. 207; Ontario is the province that lets licensed private operators compete.

DraftKings Ontario betting markets and odds

DraftKings' sports list is long, and its props are the main event. On an Oilers–Flames night you can build a slip around the players you know best rather than just the final score, and the same goes for the Raptors and the Blue Jays.

Moneylines, puck lines and totals are there for every NHL game, and the CFL is covered through to the Grey Cup. Golf, UFC and esports give you something to bet when the rinks are quiet.

Reading the odds, for illustration

For illustration: a C$20 bet at 1.91 (-110) on an over returns $38.20. A $20 player prop at 3.00 (+200) returns $60. These are sample prices, not live lines.

Same-game parlays let you stack legs from a single game. Each extra leg lengthens the odds and cuts the chance of winning, so keep stakes small on long parlays.

Live betting on DraftKings Ontario

Live betting with in-game odds is one of the headline features in DraftKings' app listing. Prices move through each period, so the number you see at puck drop will not be the number in the third.

DraftKings' terms note that in-game statistics shown on the site are unofficial and for information only, so settle disputes against the official result. The app listing does not advertise live streaming; if you want to watch inside the sportsbook, look at bet365 Ontario.

DraftKings Ontario app for iPhone and Android

The DraftKings Sportsbook and Casino app has a 4.7 rating from about 16,000 ratings on the Canadian App Store. The listing says DraftKings is "live & accepting bets in Ontario and Alberta", so the rating covers both provinces. It needs iOS 16.2 or later and is a hefty download at about 335 MB.

On Google Play the public DraftKings listing shows the US store, so there is no Canadian Android rating to quote. Download from the official Google Play listing or the DraftKings Ontario site.

DraftKings Ontario deposits and withdrawals

DraftKings' Canadian help centre has dedicated articles on depositing and withdrawing with Interac, the method most Ontario bettors use. Other methods and limits appear in the cashier once you sign in.

DraftKings does not publish Ontario withdrawal times on a public page, so we cannot quote a figure here. As with every Ontario sportsbook, your first withdrawal may wait on identity verification. The Ontario terms add that deposits are limited to verified Canadian addresses.
