The real conditions of the joining offer sit in the deposit and the qualifying bet. Only a debit card counts, and a long list of issuers is excluded, among them Revolut, Wise, Bunq, Vivid Money, Wirex, Ziglu and Yorkshire Bank. You need to deposit at least £10 within seven days of registering, then place a £10 pre-match bet at 2.0 or bigger for a single, or 3.0 (2/1) or bigger each way. Bets taken at SP do not qualify, so take a fixed price on your horse.

Betway sign-up offer: £40 in free bets for a £10 stake

When your qualifying bet settles, Betway credits four £10 Free Bet Tokens. Two are Bet Builder tokens, each needing at least four legs and combined odds of 4.0 or bigger; the other two are Acca tokens with the same four-leg, 4.0 minimum and every selection at 1.30 or bigger. The tokens expire seven days after they land, cannot be used on multi-line bets such as a Trixie or Yankee, and the free bet stake is not returned with winnings.

For a racing fan, that splits the offer in two. The qualifying bet can be a horse, which is the easy part. The tokens are harder to use on racing, because they need four-leg accumulators or Bet Builders rather than singles. One further rule catches people out. If the qualifying bet is void, a push or a non-runner, the stake has to be bet again on another qualifying selection before you can withdraw, so a horse taken out at the start costs you time rather than the offer.

A worked example shows the shape of it. Stake £10 on a Saturday football match at 2.0; once it settles, you receive £40 in tokens, but to actually use them you will need to construct qualifying multi-leg bets rather than simple singles. This is a more restrictive free-bet structure than some rivals, so plan your acca or Bet Builder before you claim.

Betway horse racing: BOG, streaming and racing promos

Betway’s racing hub covers British and Irish meetings, with an all-regions filter for international racing and greyhounds alongside. The product is lighter than at the racing specialists, with win and each-way markets at its heart, but the essentials are in place and the free-to-play game gives casual punters something extra. Betway Boosts appear on selected races, and cash out lets you settle a racing bet early if the race is not going your way, or lock in part of a profit on a multiple before the last leg runs.

Betway may be best known for its football sponsorships, but on the racecourse it has been an even bigger presence. It sponsored its first race at Ffos Las in 2015 and by December 2021 had passed 4,000 race sponsorships across 29 British and Irish courses, more than 1,000 of them at Newcastle alone, the most any UK bookmaker had backed at a single track. For a decade its name sat on the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, from 2015 until BetMGM took over in 2025, and it was official betting partner of the Grand National Festival at Aintree, where it also put its name to the Bowl.

BOG applies to UK and Irish racing for bets placed from 9am on race day: if the starting price beats the price you took, you are paid at the bigger odds. Getting the most from the welcome tokens on racing

The Acca tokens can go on horse racing as well as football, provided you build an accumulator of at least four selections at combined odds of 4.0 or bigger, with each leg at 1.30 or bigger. Four selections at 6/4 each multiply out to just over 5.0, enough to clear the bar, whereas four odds-on favourites often will not. 4 to Win and festival specials

4 to Win is a free-to-play racing game: pick the winners of four nominated races for a chance at a cash prize, with no stake required. Betway also adds extra places for the biggest festivals, as with its 777 Special, which paid seven places at 1/5 the odds on Grand National Festival races. Betway has not left the racecourse. Betway free bet terms: the small print behind the £40

The headline conditions of the Betway joining offer, the debit-card deposit, the 2.0 qualifier and the four-leg tokens, are set out above. The full terms go further, and a handful of the less obvious clauses decide whether the £40 is worth anything in practice.

In-play and virtual bets do not qualify

The qualifying bet has to be struck before the off. Virtual sports, eSoccer, in-play bets and cashed-out bets are all excluded, and a multiple fails to qualify if even one leg is placed in-play. A pre-race single on a horse at a fixed price is the cleanest route.

When the tokens appear

The four tokens activate once the qualifying bet settles, which Betway says can take up to an hour. Their seven-day expiry runs from the moment they are credited, not from when you registered.

Each-way tokens and voids

An each-way bet struck with a token counts as a single bet, and its total return has to exceed the token value before any winnings are paid. If a selection in a token bet is later voided, the stake comes back as a free bet rather than cash, and token stakes are never included in returns.

One claim, and no casino crossover

Betway limits the offer to one per person, household, email address, bank card and shared computer. The tokens belong to the registered account holder, cannot be transferred or swapped for other products, and the sports offer cannot be combined with Betway Casino promotions. Betway also reserves the right to review an account before withdrawal and to void winnings where a betting pattern guarantees a return.

A worked example

Use one £10 Acca token on a four-fold of 1/2 shots, each at 1.50. The combined odds are 5.06, which clears the 4.0 minimum and the 1.30-per-leg rule. If all four win, Betway pays £40.63 in winnings; the £10 token is not returned with them. Swap one leg for a 1/4 chance at 1.25 and the bet no longer qualifies, however short the combined price still looks.

Betway racing promotions for regular punters

Alongside BOG, the Betway promotions hub carries a racing Free Bet Special for selected UK and Irish accounts. Opt in, then place a single horse racing bet of at least £20 at evens or bigger, or 2/1 or bigger each way, on the nominated tracks, and Betway credits a free bet token, limited to one per customer per qualifying day. The token arrives within an hour of settlement and lasts seven days.

The exclusions are worth reading before you bet. Ante-post and non-runner-no-bet markets, forecasts, tricasts, system bets, cashed-out bets, bets with a void selection, SP bets and bets struck with free bets all fall outside it, and several smaller stakes that add up to £20 do not count. The tracks change, and not every account is invited, so check the hub on the day.

Is Betway safe and legit?

Betway Limited, based in Malta, holds UK Gambling Commission licences for remote casino and general betting under account number 39372, and the register lists no regulatory action against it. The company belongs to Super Group (SGHC) Limited, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Unusually, the welcome offer can be qualified with a fixed-price bet on a horse: a single at evens or bigger, or an each-way bet at 2/1 or bigger, will do.

We give it seven out of ten. The four £10 free bet tokens are all restricted to Bet Builders and accumulators of four or more legs at combined odds of 4.0 or bigger, so you cannot put one on a horse as a straight single. The debit card exclusion list is long, catching Revolut, Wise and others. Betway also publishes less racing detail than the specialists: no standard each-way terms, no daily extra-place programme and only live chat for support.
