The deal brought a second pitch at Cheltenham and a planned first foothold in Northern Ireland, at Down Royal and Downpatrick, and AK Bets now bills itself as the largest on-course bookmaker in Ireland.

How the free bet is calculated

The boost is 25% of the profit, not the return. A £10 treble at combined odds of 9.0 that wins makes £80 profit, so the free bet is £20. To reach the £100 maximum you need £400 of profit from the acca, for example a £20 stake at combined odds of 21.0. The free bet lands within 24 hours of settlement, lasts seven days and, unlike the qualifier, can go on any sport at any price, including a racing single. The free bet stake is not returned with winnings.

Who can claim

Morning bettors are a different matter. Take an early price at any firm without Best Odds Guaranteed and a late drift costs you the difference, which over a season adds up. AK Bets trades under UK Gambling Commission account 66030, held by Akbo Limited, which holds the licence for the akbets.bet domain; a related company, AK Bets Limited, holds the trading name under account 65961. The register shows no regulatory action against Akbo Limited. Before taking its own licence in March 2025, AK Bets traded through Star Racing Limited's licence. AK Bets is an Irish-based independent founded by Anthony Kaminskas, licensed in its own right by the Gambling Commission since March 2025, and racing is the backbone of its book. Selected British and Irish races and greyhound meetings are streamed live, and Trader Chat opens a line to the people pricing the markets. For bettors tired of faceless corporate firms, that combination has genuine appeal.

The gaps are hard to ignore, however. There is no Best Odds Guaranteed, which OLBG confirms from the bookmaker's own FAQ, and that is a serious omission for anyone who bets in the morning. Payments are limited to debit cards, bank transfer and Revolut, the iOS app has only 18 ratings, averaging 3.1, and the welcome offer is built around accumulators rather than single racing bets. A five reflects an honest, racing-minded bookmaker with too many gaps to be anyone's main account.
