The two-mile Grade One race was the Benson and Hedges Cup when it was launched in 1969, before being renamed the Tingle Creek in 1979 after the popular national hunt horse of the 1970s who won the race in 1973. The most successful horse in the race’s history is Flagship Uberalles with three wins, and the most successful trainer is Paul Nicholls with 11 wins, including six in a row from 2005-2010.
